Croatia’s laws prohibit smoking in public places, as well as hotels, cafes and restaurants. However, smoking on open terraces, balconies and on the street is allowed. Since tobacco products cannot be displayed openly, it means that whenever new products are released, they must be introduced by the shop staff. The smoking rate has been on the decline and was around 28% in 2014. However, there is an upward trend in hand-rolled tobacco. |

Marlboro is the most popular product, with an overwhelming majority of the market share. Local brands Ronhill and York are also very popular. |
